Cartographic Cabinet
Lasercut wood, lasercut plexiglass, electroformed copper, shells, enamel, raised copper, pierced copper, spray paint, patina, magnets, & etchings
2017
Inspired by cabinets of curiosity and the simultaneous age of discovery associated with that time, this piece is a reimagined cartographic cabinet. The map brooches in the center are removable and wearable, but also are rearrangeable so that the viewer can create their own world. The etchings below reflect different possible arrangements of the continents, and are the inverse of the brooches. The necklaces are a combination of imagined and real species.
